Cuvée Baptiste Red Wine - 2013
This red wine is aged 2 years in oak barrels and then it is preserved at least 2 years in bottle. These vinifination and ageing process guarantee at the Baptiste Rouge cuvée power, structure and a lot of finesse. Our reds wines from cuvée Baptiste 2013 are blended from the oldest vines of the Château. This wine has been aged in oak barrel for 2 years. This high quality process make this prestigious red wine an exceptional cuvée produced in AOP Côtes de Provence.
The grapes come from the oldest vines of the Château and are harvested manually. It is sorted and only the overripe berries are selected and placed in tanks. Daily tastings allow to define the optimal moment of pressing. Only the wine from the first presses is kept. It is aged in oak barrels for 2 years, then bottled and kept in the cellars of the Château for several years before being marketed. It is a wine with good growth potential, it will keep to 10 years.
90 % Syrah: A great grape variety from the Rhône valley, Syrah is one of the grape varieties that has conquered the world, from Chile to Australia, where it is called Shiraz. Flourishing in hot climates, it produces intense, spicy and very attractive wines. Tannic without being rough, and keeping a good acidity, the Syrah wines are concentrated and structured. It will bring notes of pepper, liquorice, violet, leather and cassis.
10 % Cabernet-Sauvignon: The most planted grape variety in the world, Cabernet-Sauvignon is the king of Médoc and Graves wines. It flourishes particularly on warm gravel soils and knows how to give great aging wines. This grape offers tannic and powerful red wines, requiring a few years of aging before reaching its peak. It will bring touches of cassis, chocolate, pepper, mint or light tobacco.
Color: The red wine of cuvée Baptiste has a beautiful garnet color, deep and very intense.
Nose: This wine has a powerful, expressive nose, with aromas of vanilla, coconut, exotic wood, evolving quickly towards truffles, undergrowth then towards aromas of roasting, cocoa to finish on liquorice notes.
Taste: The attack on the palate is frank with supple tannins, enveloping the whole palate with a long, powerful and persistent finish. Aromas on the palate reminiscent of those on the nose.
